BAND GUIDELINES/CONDUCT

Where children are attending practices, competitions or events representing the Pitlochry and Blair Atholl Pipe Band the following guidelines must be adhered to.

Positive behaviour shall be promoted at all times within Pitlochry and Blair Atholl Pipe Band.  Behaviour that is unacceptable will be challenged and dealt with immediately in an agreed fair and consistent manner by all volunteer staff on duty. Any member found to be misbehaving or mistreating kit will be reported to the Pipe Major and committee and may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal from the organisation.

Good lines of communication between volunteer staff and children and parent/carers should mean that most problems are solved simply and effectively.  If this cannot be resolved the parent and child will be invited to a meeting with the committee bearers in an effort to resolve any dispute.

Any members unable to attend practice or competition and band events must ensure they inform the Pipe Major / Leading Drummer / Tutor as soon as possible.

All band members are responsible for ensuring they know the arrangements for competitions etc. including march past instructions and bus departure times.

Band members under 18 years of age MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult to all band functions. All parents / Guardian will be required to complete a yearly emergency contact/consent from prior to start of band competition season.

Behaviour on buses must be good and the bus left tidy. Please ensure you do not leave and personal item or kit on the bus.

At many contests venues, local authorities have a total ban on drinking alcohol in the street or parks. The band is not responsible for any person with the band who breaks these laws.

These rules are made to ensure the safety of all band members and committee as well as keeping discipline within the band at practice and competition, and band events.

Finally be proud of your band and remember you are the organisation so enjoy the challenges and experience this brings!
