Pitlochry and Blair Atholl Pipe Band was formed in 2004 by a group of local musicians striving to bring on youngsters and to explore other areas of celtic music. Players of all ages are encouraged to play in the band. The Band competes at all the Major Championships and many Highland Games throughout the summer.  We aim to build a strong and healthy organisation, which will grow from strength to strength and will be here for many years to come.

The Band have contacts in Brittany and have forged strong cultural links with one of their pipe bands, Sonerien an Oriant, a Bagad, from Lorient who also have a strong emphasis on teaching youngsters. Some of our members play as part of the Bagad and we have some of their members over to compete with us at the World Championships. A Breton Bagad consists of Bagpipes, Drums. Percussion and Bombardes. (A bombarde is a primitive oboe like instrument.)

The band practice every Wednesday for our Grade 3 band (and most Sundays during competition season) and Thursday for our young learners, at our new venue, Port Na Craig, Pitlochry
